A beautifully-crafted Japanese Urushi lacquer fountain pen. Made from turned ebonite (hardened rubber), coated with a succession of hand-applied layers of precious natural lacquer using traditional Japanese techniques.

Akatame is based on a red sub-layer of lacquer which will show increasingly through the upper layers with use.

The pen is fitted with the famous Platinum 18k President type nib and is shipped in a beautiful traditional Japanese wooden box with a "pen kimono". The package includes an ink cartridge and a converter. Note: Japanese nibs tend to write finer than European ones, M is close to a European F for example.
